newb att/restricted transfer question

So i purchased my first restricted firearm from a member here a few weeks ago, anyways, the transfer went through fine but when they asked me what I would be using it for I did say target practice, so they send me a letter in the mail stating they need an att and proof of a 2012 range membership, well I got my new 2012 membership, I went to fill out my att, and sence the transfer hasnt been completed I have no way of knowing what the firearms registration certifcate number and what the firearms identification number would be. How am I suppose to complete the att so I can get my firearm?

What are you applying for? A short-term ATT, long-term ATT, or something else?

Do you already have possession of the firearm?

In either case, I think your best solution is to call the 800 number, hit 1 for english, 5 for ATT's, and talk to someone live. It sounds like you're applying for a long-term ATT and the signals have gotten crossed somewhere. You want to talk to them directly. Also, here in Ontario at least, your Club is often the best contact with the CFO. I've been instructed to apply for LT-ATT's through the club secretary (by the club orientation). While I'm sure it's fine to apply personally, the club speaks to the CFO far more often.

nope I purchased an ar15 from a member, the firearms office in miramichi completed there part of the transfer, but after that it goes to the provincial cfo and they approve the transfer of the restricted firearm, before the cfo approves it they want a completed att and a valid 2012 range membership, I got the membership, but the firearm hasnt been transfered to my name yet because I havent sent in the att, but to send in the att theres info I need that I can only get once the firearm is in my name, kind of a 2 way "need one to get the other" sort of deal. make sence?

So a catch-22 situation? Need ATT to get the ATT.

You better give someone a call. "Hey, what am I supposed to send you here? It's in my name (says the CFC), but you want an ATT to give me an ATT? Or are you asking for the short term ATT?"

BTW, when you call the CFC number, pressing 5 for "ATT's" transfers you to the provincial CFO's office. Those are the people you're dealing with now.

Try using the reference number for the transfer instead of the Registration Certificate Number. That should let them know which firearm you are getting the ATT for.

They should of filed your ATT over the phone, it takes 5 mins. Fax a copy of your membership to your CFO. Im thinking this is the hold up. Then you will get a temp ATT to get your AR home. Once the AB CFO got a copy of my range membership, all transfers went fast (before I had my LTATT).
