Newb from North Bay, On.

So yeah, like the title says I'm bunked up just down the hill from NORAD's Canadian site.

I'm about to get my PAL, so I'm still an ultra-noob in the Civie world. The only time I handled firearms was during the 3.5 years I spent as Reserve infantry, so I've fired & maintained C6/7/9, Mossberg 500, Remington 870, and the ancient Hi-Powers we have. I hadn't realized how much I was spoiled by the Army until I was handed a Savage 111 while I was at Lefebvre's, made me miss my C7 :(

I'm looking at popping down to Elwood Epps and snagging a Mosin when I get the PAL all squared away. I was considering a 12 gauge, however I'm probably going to end up shooting/hunting with a friend who already has a 12 gauge 3", so it would be redundant. So it came down to a MN and a 111, and I'm a student with a slightly-above minimum wage job.

So, hello, nice to be among like-minded Canadians at last.

Welcome Tac there is tons of info and enthusium here and as you can see lots of nutz.
Gunnutz that is, join the EE forum and check out the bargains no need to even go to Epps it's all here.
Cheers Graham

The motherland! s**t! If there were anything else there but slightly above minimum wage jobs out there I would move back. Great place to live, terrible place to work.

Welcome to CGN! Glad to have you.

Re: Jamie, range? what range?

As for the EE, yeah, have access to it now, definitely a better idea than driving down to Epps.

As for being a northerner, I'm a mix. I spent twelve years in the GTA, and almost ten in the North Bay area. I'm at home on Yonge st, but I'm also at home in the woods. I thought I was nothing but a city boy until I had to lead around some city kid that was Int during Vigilant Guardian. I was running through the pet range with little to no noise...but it sounded like I was being followed by a very drunk and upset moose.

-Luckily all your training w/the Alq. Regt. prepared you for just such an eventuality? You want to prove to yourself that you're not a city-boy at heart? Stand on the corner of Yonge & Bloor, or Bay & Bloor & look up. If you wish you were looking at open sky instead of the tiny patch of smog you see above the buildings; you just don't belong there...and all the over-priced latte's available on every second street-corner's Starbucks won't change your outlook...
-Anyway, welcome to the board, and after your time in the GTA, welcome back to civilisation. After a good few years bouncing around a few bases I held a civvy position in T.O for about 6.5yrs...which was about 6yrs longer that I'd have preferred! I'm back home in the Sault & plan to stay.
