Hey guys,

Well no one seemed to pick up on my post down in another section so i will ask my question here.

I am going to be buying a whole reloading setup for my 7.62x54r (to start more calibers will follow). Now i priced it all out new and it's a fair bit, would like to find some used loading gear if possible.

I see there is a gun show in edmonton next weekend and i would like to know if you guys who have been to gun shows in the past think i might be able to find stuff like a press, dies, scale, trimmer and all that at a guns show or if I am better off to buy new.

Thanks, Ryan.

Maybe. If you buy used kit, buy RCBS. Their warrantee is on the equipment, not the original owner. They'll fix any problems even if you buy used.

In my experience most of the reloading stuff that you will see at a gun show is not much of a bargin. Usually I buy most things new but do sometimes get a deal on dies, components and strange odds and ends.

Have a good idea of what it is you want and know the going rates for new stuff.

Beware of oddball stuff as you might find a Herters press for $10 but only later find out that it doesn't take standard shell holders. Theres a lot of old stuff out there that will be more trouble than its worth to someone new to reloading.

Check the gun show. Be there early and move quickly through the displays to find bargins. Last spring I picked up a simple single stage press, NIB for $15. I bought several sets of dies for $10 ea.

good advice from all, i will check it out for sure. Cash in hand when the doors open (like everyone else i'm sure). Maybe i'll find what i need, if not i'll buy new i guess.

Thanks,
