Is .308 enough for moose? My hunting will likely be limited to that and deer due to geography and personal interest.

A 308 would be a good choice. If you're not a handloader, there's lots of factory ammo and everywhere.

Thinking of a Ruger Scout for a hunting rifle. Thoughts?

Those Ruger Scouts would be a good choice as well, but the oversize/drop down magazine would be quite heavy when full and make a one handed carry uncomfortable. 3 or 4 rounds of ammo is lots for hunting.

There's lots of 308 bolt actions out there to choose from. I'd check a few out in person before buying.

5 round poly mags are available. I like my Scout rifles. Got one in .223 and .308. Lefty model.
