I have a 12g Norc 870 clone which I use as a truck/camp gun. Taken a few grouse, and destroyed countless clay pigeons. 
I'll probably pick up a .410 or 20g later on down the road just for variety. I originally thought about getting a Mossberg 930 but decided that another rifle would serve me better at this point in time.
Wow, 400m is probably more than plenty for me. I'm not quite an MOA shooter yet. From a bench with a sandbag under the front of the stock, my out-of-box remington 700 and cheapy federal 30-06 ammo from canadian tire my 100m groups are 1.25 - 1.5 inches. At 200m (range maximum) my groups are about 3.5 - 4 inches. While standing and unsupported I can repeatedly hit an 8" round steel gong at 200m. So I could definitely use more range time if I'm to take smaller game at a distance.
