I know people are gonna HATE this, but instead of Ranger plates, I use good ol' fashioned DUCT TAPE to simulate Ranger plates. It's really simple and has NO effect on the mag followers or round capacity.
I have them on my 7.62x39 mags, they're all angle bottom. I origanly put them on because I was losing the mag in the pouch. The shortest I found were TT 20 round pouches, so I shimmed the bottom and use Magpul.
I used side-cutters to trim the follower legs, for 10.5 rounds.
Fwiw, I use Ranger plates for 10 round mags, and L plates for 5 round mags. It's the easiest way I found to distinguish the two, when they're in a pouch or just sitting in a pile.
