I recently bought my first precision rifle. Rem 700 Tactical in .308. Shoots great. It's in a choate stock. I really like the stock but it's a blind magazine. My fingers are a little clumsy to be jamming cartridges in there, especially when it gets a little cold. I would like to convert it to a DBM. I have looked at various conversions and could probably inlett my stock myself but I'm wondering if it's worth it. Cost is about the same for a conversion or to buy an Archangel stock. If I convert, I risk compromising the integrity of my stock and screwing it up completely. I need opinions on what to do, thot's on the Archangel stock, McMillan, and are there any other available stocks that won't require me to get a second mortgage? Thanks for your thot's and opinions.

Good point. I know the bottom metal a guy can buy includes a new trigger guard but to inlett that into this stock would be impossible to make it look good. Ok so that leaves selling this stock and replacing it. What are the thot's on Archangel and what else is available? Anyone want to buy this stock?? Lol I'll be posting it on the EE when I've got a replacement.

I am not a real big fan of the Acchangel stock. You should look in the EE for HS Precision take off stock from a R5 or something along that line.

You'd have to start with one of the M700 detachable mag conversion kits. They're not ready to just slap on a new stock with a mag well.
What is a 'thot'?

So, do I need conversion kit and a DBM stock? An aftermarket stock wont come with the trigger guard, mag well, and a magazine, all the pieces to make it work?

'Thot's' are synapses in my brain when I'm pondering something or other. Most people have them lol

I was just kidding lol. So buying a stock isn't enough? I need to spend like $600-700 for a kit and a stock? That's as much as the gun is worth in the first place. Is there any stock that comes with everything I need?

your best bet is to keep looking in the EE for a stock and for bottom metal you should be able to buy both for under 500 bucks.

The MDT chassis systems are options you could consider, either the LSS or MDT 21. DBM ready.
There are DBM systems that will fit a Remington BDL inlet. One of these could be installed in, say, a take-off HS Precision stock. These stocks appear in the EE from time to time, usually in the $250 - $300 range. Then you would have to add some hundreds for the magazine system.
The MDT LSS can be quite cost effective, although the total can mount up if top end golly gee whiz AR parts are added.

Those MDT stocks sure are nice! Im a little concerned that about all I will be able to do is consider them haha. Actually purchasing one, and of course a hand grip and the rest of it, plus a DBM system, is going to run me more than I am prepared to spend right now. It's probably going to run me at least $1000! And I can't buy just the chassis and not have the rest of the parts! Would it be worth it? I'm absolutely sure it would! Is it feasible for me? I am sorry to say no it's not. But wowww. That's the ticket for sure. Thanks again for the help guys. I'll keep my eyes peeled for some used stuff. As for now, I guess I'll continue stuffing my fingers into the magazine from the top! Cheers!

FYI, CDI DBM can be inletted into this stock.

That will let you have AICS type mags.

I personally really like the promag precision stock. Lots of adjustments and great ergonomics. The bipod in the forend is kind of basic but it works as a basic rest. Other bipods can be added as desired.

For the money, it is a smoking good deal especially if you want det mag. The 10rds mags are 2.8" internal so work great for mid weight bullets but forget the heavies in 308. Proprietory mag but they are well priced.

I have Choate Tactical Rem SA stocks already inletted for the CDI or Badger DBM. This will save the cost of inletting.

So you have several ways to resolve and get what you want.

If you go to a 2pc weaver base like the Burris XTB, it opens up the action for easier access.

Thanks Tiriaq but the cost would be considerably higher. I would love to own the MDT chassis but I can't afford that. Not now, not for a while. Unfortunately. Unless you're buying me something for Christmas?!? I've been a good boy lol.
