Well, I have the press set up. It is a lee turret, so I am starting slow on 9mm. So far I am keeping it in single stage, just getting my bearing, depriming all good, just seated 10 cases with primers, with a few tweaks got it down (obviously need some practice).
Now I want to check the autodisk powder dispenser and see what it is spitting out.
My question this time around is the loading data - I have Lyman 49th edition, and under 9mm it doesn't give me a 124gr FMJRN - which data should I use?
FYI I am using Bullseye with the Berry 124gr FMJRN. I've checked Alliant's website and they don't have those bullets either.

Any pointers would be greatly appreciated.

Word of advice with the autodisk, grab a tube of powdered graphite and dust generously inside the throat and base of the elastomer wipe. It will make your results more consistent.

I had fits trying to get consistent results. For the .40 I reload for, I was trying to get 6.4 grains. Using the closest single disk (.54 I think), best I could do was around 6.7 but very inconsistent. For reasons that I can't understand, using the double disk (the .30 ones) gave me 6.5 grains 99% of the time.

It's a good system once you break it in. I dismantled mine, cleaned the hell out of it, lubed with graphite and re-assembled. It's been much better since.

Thanks for that. Was definitely having issues with that too. Getting significantly low charges for the disk I was using.
Just need the actual data now lmao

Use the data for the gdhp (124gr) and work your way up until you find what your gun likes. Alliant's website lists the max charge, so use 10% less then what is listed.

As long as your bullet weight is within 10grs give or take and you start low it's VERY unlikely anything bad will happen.

For the overall length load up an empty case with a bullet and slowly seat it deeper while checking that it freely drops in and out of the gun(s) barrel that your reloading for. So if your dummy round drops freely at 1.210" then I would use 1.200" if your using a cz pistol, it will likely be under 1.100" as they have a tighter chamber.

Hey guys. Another part to this - spawn-inc. I read you post. But does the oal not affect the pressure? If I read Lyman 49th right the min oal should be 1.169 for 9mm Luger.... I've tried a few lengths and they see to slide into the camber fine at 1.200 but there is barely any bullet in the case. Should it be fine to do my loads up to 1.169 consistently and just work the grains?
Sorry if this is a crazy question or I haven't read enough. :)
Thanks

Seating a bullet deeper does effect the pressure, the deeper go the higher the pressure, assuming the same powder charge of course.

But the start charges (in manuals) are low enough that unless you put the entire bullet into the case, nothing will happen. There is a pretty decent margin for error with the powder charges in manuals.

If 1.169 fits your gun and mags, then use the starting load, load up 20 or 25 rounds, then Bump up the charge in 0.5gr increments. It's what's called a ladder test.

I reread your first post and see that your using Berry's 124gr bullets, I use them and seat them at 1.500" which works great in my glock17 and Norinco 1911. I do use Bullseye, but only in 38spl 148gr hbwc's. For 9mm I use w231/hp38 or tightgroup.

Spawn - thanks, appreciate the help. I was going to do a ladder test. Upon further reading Lyman 49th, it says to just worry about the weight of the bullet, I was worried that round nose vs hp would be a concern. The seating depth on the Lyman chart is much deeper than I am going.
I think I need a mentor in the Ottawa area lol. I was doing the ladder with 20 rnds of round nose and 20 rounds of hp with the same charge, but the hp is .355 which I noticed after loading 8 rounds seeing the buldge in the case. Checked and realized the rounds were sticking in the chamber. Another learning curve.
