newb shotgun hunting question

I recently purchased a DA Grizzly 12.5" pump shotgun and was wondering if there are any restrictions using it for the fall deer hunt. (assuming I can consistently hit a 6" plate at 75-100m with slugs) like I could with my 18.5"

The velocity will be reduced, of course, but at the distances you'll be working within it will not be of any consequence.
