Like the title says, I have never reloaded before, but i do a lot of shooting and would like to start reloading some of my more expensive rounds. I am looking to gather some information on:

Where can I buy a good reloading kit ( everything I need to get started, minus dies, brass, powder etc)

What is the best kit in your experience?

I am not looking to spend a fortune on equipment, just something to get me started to see if it is something I will keep doing. Have about 700+ empty 7mm rem mag brass, so i will be able to keep busy this winter lol.

If you haven't yet, take some time to look through older posts in this section as this question is frequently asked and great answers can be found in those posts.

I myself am just getting into reloading. I chose the rcbs rock chucker supreme kit. Seems to be highly recommended and well built. I am slowly adding tools like bullet puller, dies, tumbler, case trimmer etc. Sky is the limit.

I found my kit at cabelas.com for 309 us but I wish I would have got it from budget instead. He has it for 399. You can get $50 back as well from rcbs until the end of December. Good luck

I did it a lot like laker, only I went red instead of green - the Lee anniversary kit was $150, and has now made 1000's of rounds without issue. When it comes down to picking a single stage press, don't get caught up in the colour it comes in, they're all going to work.

In my kit, I have replaced a few things, but not because they didn't work. The ring-lock bushing have made the process much more efficient as well - set the dies once and thats it.

Don't get your heart set on a single powder - find the list of preferred powders for the rounds you want to reload from your manual, and when you find availability in something you can use, buy it.

Have manuals. Being new, I'd recommend the ABC's, I found it worth reading. I'm currently using Lyman's 49th and because I shoot a lot of cast, Lyman's 4th cast manual.

Have fun, and make sure that your ROI calculator is set for the long term and not the short one - you'll be in a hole after you get everything you need to start reloading, and you're not going to get it back overnight. Personally, I don't save any money by reloading, but I do shoot more.

The Rock Chucker is the way to go. I have been loading for over 40 years, and have tried a few different presses, and the RCBS rules. The Supreme kit will last your lifetime and be handed down to whoever you deem worthy.

Awesome! This sounds like it would suit my needs perfectly. As mentioned I will slowly add more efficient parts as time goes on. I will check out budget. Thanks :D

I agree that the rockchucker supreme kit is the way to go. Good quality stuff, and aggressive customer service just in case anything breaks.

X2! Buy RCBS and you only need to buy once! Best warranty in the business. For reloading 7mm Rem Mag you can't go wrong with the RC Supreme Kit. Have a look at Midsouth Shooters Supply and Natchez in the US. They ship to Canada and when they're running a sale you can potentially save hundreds off the WSS retail price.

I'd buy the Anniversary kit from Higginson Powder. It'll last as well as needed - I've been using a Lee press for 20+ years with no problem at all. I wouldn't spend more on a hobby you don't know you're going to continue and by the time your Lee press wears out, you'll know.
