Hi,

I am newbie when it comes to shotgun.

I am interested in:

-Beretta urika
-Beretta extrema 2
-Benelli SBE ii

My question is are those 3 guns spring/recoil operated or gas, and what is the advantage.

Thanks.

No semi-auto shotgun is spring operated.
"...what is the advantage..." Six of this, half dozen of the other. However, recoil operated shotguns, tend to be ammo sensitive. Gas operated shotguns can be too, but not as much.
They're all very big dollar shotguns. $1750ish for the Benelli. $1400ish for the Urika and $1900ish for the Xtrema. Plus taxes. $800ish will buy you a Remington 11-87.
Mind you, no semi-auto beats a Remington 870 pump for reliability. $508 will buy you one with a 26" smooth bore and a rifled 20" deer barrel. Epp's.

hey sunray your off the times in the price department i know a guy that is looking to buy an extrema 2 for $1400 and i believe that the SBE2 is in a similar range, the belelli's will give you the 3.5" capability with far less recoil that the benelli. Ive shot the extrema, extrema 2, SBE and SBE 2 and i have to say i prefer the feel of the benellis but they kick noticably more than the berettas, that being said im 150 lbs and i still made out more than fine there is just a little more softness in the shoulder region the next day

The beretta will cycle lighter loads like trap and such easier. I have had it jam up with heavy duty goose and turkey loads too. (they were over 2oz)

The Benelli lives for those heavy loads! I don't own one but have a friend bring his out for skeet with us one day and our 3/4oz and 5/8oz loads were a problem every 5-10 shots shots or so. With the 5/8oz you had to manually eject some. (He's looking into a lighter spring now) While the beretta spit em out every time.

I like the Beretta myself as it has the lightest of felt recoils of the bunch. The Kickoff works great for heavy goose loads too. There really is no BETTER gun of the 2. For duck and goose mostly though i'd recommend to you the Benelli. (Hope my beretta didn't hear that):)

Good luck

Mike

I have the Benelli and have said it many times on here the gun is wonderful especially for chasing ducks and geese. I do shoot trap/skeet with it as well but not light loads nothing under 1 oz or you run into cycling issues as described above.

It does thump a little especially with the 3.5 inch rounds but when it starts raining geese the discomfort generated by the recoil goes away rather quickly.
