has anyone had their hands on this gun? i am really quite interested in it for it's portability. have seen tons of US reviews and videos on this gun but would like to hear from and owner in Canada that has got one. is it as reliable as the other 10/22's and would you recommend it to another that just wants portable convenience and dependability?

thanks

I own one.

So far quite satisfied with it's performance and accuracy.

I use 2 x 25 rd Butler Creek mags as well as the TriMag.

Bolt hold open device and release function are a bit awkward to use.

I have one. Installed Dlask cocking handle, bolt buffer, and a bolt release of some kind (can't remember), seems solid - but it is one of two guns in my safe that I have yet to shoot. Takedown locks solid, opens easy, and is adjustable.

I've got one and just had to send it back to the warranty repair center in Quebec. The rear sight dovetail groove is not machined at a correct right angle to the barrel and the breech face of the barrel is showing a lot of wear from the bolt action against it after only about 500 rounds. I'm not impressed but it's probably just new model production glitches. I am waiting patiently to see how the warranty center handles the repair.

The basic action of the take down model is exactly the same as the regular 10/22... so you can trust the reliability of and performance of it. Its really just the connection point of the front end (barrel) to the receiver thats been re-thought and re-designed. Comments about that area would be what id be concerned with most. Does it stay tight, does it lock up or stick when your trying to un do it, etc etc. The action itself though, its solid IMO.

I have one, its very solid and holds a zero. Its adjustable for wear kinda like the SA 22. It locks up tight and it not sticky and no force is needed the take it down. I like the bag for it also, very handy. I have had no issues in about 600 rounds. I've put a VQ trigger kit and bolt buffer in it and it wears a compact scope and still fits in the bag.

I Have one.. pretty reliable. Not as accurate as my other .22lrs.

Mine is pretty much stock. I got 25 rd steel lips as well I dremeled part of the trigger assembly to that I can auto-release the bolt by pulling it back.

For me it is a back up gun that can fold up and pack... and for occasional fun.

However between it and the Marlin Papoose, I 'd take the papoose for practical reasons

( lighter and more accurate).

I have one. Over 600 rounds and no jams or issues. In mid winter I'll send it to Quebec for the dovetail warranty claim as mine is screwed up from the factory. It doesn't affect accuracy to me but its ugly to look at.

all great replies and much appreciated. i heard about the dovetail issue, understand that's fairly common with certain serial #'s. i read somewhere that it was corrected on the latest builds, don't know if that's true or not.

thanks again for all the feedback, i've got one ordered. :)

Yeah they are definitely fun, when I received mine the adjustment knob was entirely stuck and wouldn't budge.. ruger said they had no idea what to do.. so i took it apart and it just needed to come out of the stock loosen it up a bit (Because it moved then) and then put the stock back on and it was just fine.. seems to hold a zero just dandy (though I dont primarly shoot it :D ) had a good 700+ rounds through it other than the adjustment knob the only other problem i've had is the 25 round mag we had woudln't fit in properly.. like you had to really force it seemed the stock tapered in just slightly. Haven't seen that on the other takedowns i've seen though so probably just a one off thing.

W.R.T butler creek folding stock: you'll have to do some work on the butler creek folding stock to make it fit the take down receiver.

don't get me wrong, it fits in perfectly after cutting the butler creek fore stock.

HOwever, because the band in the forestock no longer holds a big one piece in it place, it will wiggle.

With some careful modification to the bulter creek slot you can get tightness again. ex epoxy

I went back to standard 10/22 td

I took mine out the other day finally. Shoots nice, I was able to get respectful groups with open sights, even with multiple takedowns between groups.
