Hi y'all

Most people call me Gord,

I just got back from a winter in Texas where guns and a grille guard on your pickup are as common as drinking your tea cold. I got introduced to handgun shooting by my neighbor and friend down there and am throughly hooked. I have to say that I did Canada proud as I out shot my buddy every time after I learned what end of a 45 auto to hold. My Sig X-Five is on order and I'm studying all the necessary documentation. I've hooked up with a man that appears to be a top-notch teacher and examiner have scheduled meetings for my schooling. Am I enthusiastic? You betcha!

Hi Gord, welcome to CGN! And welcome to the handgun fraternity. :D
Here's my usual pitch:
If you're not already a member of the NFA and/or CSSA, please join. These firearms organizations work on our behalf to ensure that Canadians can keep and enjoy their firearms. They are our voice in Ottawa, and we need all the help we can get. Click on the links in my sig line for more information.
Again, welcome aboard.

Well, I think you'll be thoroughly disappointed at how much harder it is to enjoy handguns in Canada than in Texas, but welcome aboard anyways.

I have few delusions about the difference between our situation here and that of the wild west. However I will be able to enjoy the best of the two worlds as I head to Arizona for this coming winter. I went to x this year with a pretty rigid view of guns and regulation and the American "gun psyche". I don't really think I have changed those views all that much but I do understand the mindset there better. There are no easy answers. I'm just thrilled at the prospect of having my own handgun. This will be a boy's dream come true despite the restrictions.
