Newbie from GTA/KW

Hi everyone!!!!

I am located in the GTA, in my 28 days waiting period from Restricted PAL. From my count, it should be the 10th day so I hope it will be here shortly.

CGN is awesome, I learned so much from posts in the past month and look forward to see some of you guys at the range some day.

Anyone in the York Region Or Kitchener/Waterloo region?

There are quite a few clubs in the area... depends on what you want/like I guess.
Waterloo Revolver, Bridgeport, Galt... to name a few.
Somewhere in one of the forums there's a fairly comprehensive list of clubs across Canada.

Which one has the longest range, do you know? Something like 300yards..

Galt and Twin City (a little farther west) have 200 yds... not really sure. Guelph also has at least 200 yds.
If you want quality, you may want to drive the extra hour east to E.E.S.A. (East Elgin Sportsmen's Association). They'll have what you're looking for.

I am planning to go and check out Galt tomorrow night. Anyone in the KW area going tomorrow?

Twin City has a 300 yard range. Galt has a 200 yard range although has recently closed membership to the rifle section.

As in the 200 yard non restricted range down the road? Oh well, I only spend my time on the handgun range anyways so I guess its no biggie. I do remember the day after I got my license going there and blasting away with my SKS and 870. Fun times.

If you're currently a rifle section member then you are fine but no more new members for now.

Which is the stupidest thing I ever heard... I just heard about that yesterday.

Hey everyone we love to see our sport and shooting numbers grow, but lets limit them because some idiots cannot follow range rules and gun safety...
(Can anyone say AR's at a non-restricted range? Or stitching holes in the dirt up to your targets?)

Damned it was a good thing I wasn't in the meeting that brought that BS up...

Supposedly Rifle has 375 members and they want to cut that back to 250ish..
Even with 30 people already on a waiting list to get into the rifle section... I bet it was a bunch of Fudds that came up with that plan.

Not so much Fudds but a section and club executive that are trying to keep a range open. I'm not on either executive but am a member of the section and I'm not particularly thrilled with the decision either. There are however challenges beyond some range Rambos shooting up the place. The exec is limiting and charging for guests, restricting a shooter to no more than one shot every three seconds and the annual public sight-in days in the fall will soon be a thing of the past.
