How many new purchases is too many?
Just pulled the trigger on gun #4. All have been in the last 2 weeks. 😬

It all depends on what you're buying and if you can afford it! For those of us who have gone through this experience as adults, we can sympathize. You drag your feet for years, kind of wanting a license but not wanting the hassle of taking the course and doing the paperwork. Then you get that done and wait months, looking at gun retail websites the whole time. Once you're allowed to buy, it's very understandable. I didn't buy that many in the first two weeks, but not that far behind. I think I bought 4 in the first 3 months, and took possession of a family inheritance NR rifle that a friend had been safe keeping.

Have you shot any of them yet? What are your plans with them? Some like to use them for hunting, some like to join competitions, some are buying because they have ammo for the calibre, some just like to collect things.

I've shot 2 of the models before, at walk in ranges. I know a big reason for the buys has been FOMO, but I genuinely enjoy shooting, and gear.

I'd like to get into 3 gun possibly, but who knows.

Unfortunately, most of my friends aren't restricted licensed, or don't care much about firearms at all. I figure if I don't get the pistols I want now, I might regret it for years to come. (If we even get years to enjoy them!)

Ive bought more than four in one day in the past. Keep going to get what you want or your broke, whatever comes first.

Many Canadians are fomoing into restricted and 4 certainly isn't what I'd consider "too much" if the intention is that these may be the last restricteds you buy.

Do be mindful that once the CFO know you have 10 or more firearms (10 restricteds, for example) you will be eligible to be storage checked by police.

For purchases where urgency isn't the issue I would only suggest that you keep what you've been doing: try the firearm first at a rental range etc before you buy. Sometimes fit and feel are very individual things and the ergonomics can dictate how enjoyable your shooting experience is.

When i first got my license. I made a plan before hand, 5 firearms over the first year
22LR Rifle
Handgun
Shotgun
223 556 or 762 rifle
TO BE DETERMINED
in that order. I have the first 2 done over the first month. I spend a good amount of time doing research and watching stores for sales . The impulse is always there, if you have the money go for it, but make informed decisions
