Newbie: Lee challenger kit?

My wife bought me the Lee Challenger kit for Christmas many years ago when it was introduced and I still use the press today :D I've upgraded the scale, added items from Lee, RCBS and Hornady manufacture. I've loaded for lot's of different cartridges and really like Lee dies :) Although I have a Hornady hand priming tool, I still prefer the primer tool that came with the press  I just keep my hands clean when handling the primers and have never had a misfire with my reloads. For starting out, you can't beat the price of the Lee kits.

Man we're on page 3 and all the Lee bashers are making sausages or what? Can't beat Lee prices, I upgraded to a classic cast press and love it. Those collet dies I use for everything and are great, no lube is right. Maybe also considering a progressive for my .223. Welcome to a great hobby.

Bought the Lee Anv kit in 1992 , still use it to load for two different rifles. Bought a second Lee o-press as a spare , can,t beat the price of the kit.

well I finally got my press kit! I got her all setup and was depriming, resizing and priming last night. Wow, did it ever take me a long time to figure out what the heck to do with the dies!

My only complaint is the kit came with a hopper for the powder but no charging die to mount the thing! Argh how frustrating is that? Does anyone know of a place to get a Lee Charging Die?

I can see how not having to lube the cases would be a good thing. Oh, the salesman recommended i use STP to lube the cases, does anyone here do that?

I have to say, I was having a ball playing with this press after I got it setup and working. Now I need to buy a pistol to reload for! who said this hobby saves money? mwuahaha

I have the same kit bougth 3 years ago for my 243. I reload now for all these different calibers. 243, 6.5x55, 308, 30-06 7mm rem mag, 7mm RSUM and 300WSM.

The press is OK for regular calibers but is starting flex and making strange noises with those magnums resizing. I think i need the new Classic cast press.

Get the Lee perfect powder mesure it's fast and accurate.

Caution reloading is very addictive.

alright, so now I need to order some accessories from LEE. So far I need a charging die, saftey prime tray, auto-disk riser (thanks blindman) carbide dies for .38 sp and .308.

can anyone suggest anything else I might need or should consider? I'd like to pay shipping once if possible ;)

EDIT: Jimbo, how fast is the perfect powder measure, and how easy is it to adjust?

The Perfect powder measure works so-so with extruded powders, you really have to operate it consistently for a decent measure. I understand its better with spherical powders.

With IMR4064, I weigh every charge as the Lee Measure isn't consistent with extruded powders.

I find it's good to within a tenth of a grain or two with 4831 sc imr 4350 imr 4895 rl15, blue dot and win 760 are bang on. I'm not a bench rest precision enthusiast so this kinda performance is great for my needs
