So let me put it this way, I'm an iron sights guy.
I own two scoped guns... one is a .22 and the other I'm mystified what to do with.
Basically, I need to mount a new scope onto the new gun. It's a weaver, same as the old one, just a model up - same tube diameter.
Problem is that the scope won't seem to stay put. I tightened down the screws evenly so I wouldn't torque the mounts or tube, and made sure that everything was aligned and centered.
After some 20-30 shots the scope rotated slightly and slid forward. I re tightened the screws and the same thing happened again some 20 shots later. I don't want to strip any of the screws from over tightening.
So, I can use thin brass shims to enlarge the diameter and give the rings better grip.
Also, whereabouts should I align the turrets? Obviously they should be between the front and rear rings, but perhaps snugged up against the front or rear rings to avoid allowing the scope to shift? A crash course on scope mounting would be appreciated (most "how to's" on the net don't cover this).
