Just got a Rockchucker kit and now I need to get dies for my 300wsm.
Was looking at RCBS full-length sizer die with expander\de-capping unit and bullet-seater die on Cabelas and while searching came across this on another site "If you have never loaded WSM cartridges and haven't read a lot about them, The best tip I can give you is that they do not like full length sizing at all and very short brass life is common when full length sizing. The Lee Collet Neck Sizing Die set is my first recommendation to you."

So what is best for a newbie to start with or do I need both sets?

I have loaded 100's of rds for 300 wsm. I've tried neck sizing, partial full length sizing & everything in between. After lots of feeding problems I went back to full length and will not change. I don't need to lose an elk over a round that won't feed properly. I have had some brass with case neck splits after the 2nd firing but I was loading hot. I also think I had a bad batch of win brass. In addition I now anneal after the 2nd firing but have not tried enough to see if it will make a difference. My experience with 5 different rifles is that they are in fact harder on brass than 300 mag or 30-06. To a point though I'm not too worried as I have almost 500 brass. Yes I'm a hoarder! Have thought of getting the lee collet die but I doubt I will. Best of luck!!!!!

Ive used Lee collet dies in 2 different calibers, and noticed an improvement in group size.
I no longer have a 300WSM, but I have a 270WSM. I now only neck size, but there is nothing wrong with FL sizing them. About the only time I FL size now is when I buy a new rifle in the same caliber, I then FL size my brass so it will fit in the new gun.
