Yep. Yet trying to influence other peoples' decisions so you can feel better about yours' isn't the way to go about it. If you think Norinco is airsoft you're also free to go stand in front of one at the range(take it with a grain of salt) .......now your comparison doesn't make sense . I don't disagree that the quality is better in originals (most but not all cases)but in a ratio of gun/money , the repros' have the upper hand IMHO.

Anything can be cloned/copied as long as the patent or copyright protection is no longer valid or expired. 1911 is a good example. Otherwise, a contract for the use of design is required and will cost an arm and a leg specially if the product is good and still selling good. This is where we see the label/print/product stamp as: "Manufactured under license ######" I have not seen a NORINCO designed firearm, but I could be wrong. Most if not all are clones, sometimes improved versions of the original.

True. Sometimes it actually works out to 17 years from the date the patent is granted. The twenty is from date of filing the patent. Whichever value is greater is the one used. Design patents are 14 years from date of filing.
Regardless, it is getting better in China but they still have a long way to go before adhering to the same rules the westen world does.
As far as buying a Norc instead of a real Sig, I could never go that route personally.

As far as I know, The CZ75 is an improved version of Browning Hi Power.... The Jericho 941 series are CZ75 clones (internally)
If Norinco was violating patent laws I'm sure Canada, Australia, and the rest of Europe would have stopped Norinco imports. America has banned Norinco because of alleged supplying to gangs but I think it's more likely US anti dumping laws combined with protecting Remington and other firearms businesses from working quality products from Norinco. 1911s, Woodsman, Grizzly, and ARs just to name a few.
Just wait till Ford and GM start having their domestic cars made in China.
Why are some still discussing patent rights? The Communist Chinese could care less, the attitude is go ahead sue me! Remember that Norinco is Chinese Government owned as are all of the factories and workers that make small arms/ ammo in China...we fund their military to this extent every time we purchase. No need to flame, I'm not criticizing anyone who purchases, just stating fact. I do however shutter to think of working conditions in some of these places and pray for the poor buggers who work/labour in them.
FWIW, as I have said many times, the Chinese factories are always worried about patents. They do not make any gun still under patent. They waited on the MP5, SIG, Glock, etc.
PS I just visited the four major plants last week and saw working conditions ranging from new, ultra-modern to dark and dingy, but nothing remotely Orwellian.
Also, you do realise that many factories in China are government owned? So you support them when you shop most places.

I look at this way in China and other "third world" countries - the workers have a choice of crappy work conditions or no work at all. In many towns, no work is way worse when you watch your family suffer and starve. In places like Thailand you send your children to work in ### trade - take your pick.
Please let's not forget that Norinco is possible responsible for getting more shooters into the sport than any other fireams company.
Who else sells a Woodsman and a 1911, together, for under 500 bucks? Certainly not Colt.
And all those loyal to buying only North American merchandise, pleaase raise your hands, and stay the eff outta Dollarama.
I'm about as far as you can get from needing the accolades of those on this site to validate my purchases, but thanks for projecting your own issues. The value in a poorly made copy is non existent. For those who shoot 200 rounds a year, a knock off is doable. For someone who appreciates quality tools and runs them hard, will not be disappointed with the genuine article.

A little off topic but.... You would be surprised at the quality of some knock offs you can find in China. At least Norinco putting Sig Sauer on their NP22s.
I bought this in China 5 years ago. The automatic really works and keeps time perfectly. The chrono doesn't work but it keeps time prefectly.
