I've tried narrowing down this question, but google always changes my search from Lapua Mag to Win Mag. and I can't find a definitive answer. I'm brand new to precision shooting, and from what I've read so far, the 338 Lapua is an exciting cartridge for wanting to cover some ground. First off, 338 Lapua ammo is very scarce right now, as has been the case with many other cals., but since my rifle arrived, I've noticed for over 6 months, many places aren't even carrying 338 Lapua magnum at the moment.
Some retailers will advertise ammo as 338 Lapua and others as 338 Lapua Magnum. My rifle (no rounds even through it yet) is chambered in 338 Lapua Magnum. I'm wondering if 338 Lapua IS exactly 338 Lapua Magnum, and some people just drop the magnum part out of the name for convenience?
When I try to ask the goog, it always changes my question to 338 Lapua vs 338 Win Mag. when I intentionally want to ask about Lapua Mag. Would hate to buy something up due to such limited supply, and blow out a new rifle.
Any feedback is greatly appreciated.
