I was looking at Marstars website and was wondering what the difference was between the 1851 and 1860 colt c&b revolvers. The 1851 has a slightly shorter hex barrel with small front sight and the 1860 has a round 8" barrel with larger front sight. Other than that what is the difference between the two of them?

Octagon is and EIGHT sided object and is a normal barrel configuration.
The 1851 definitrely has better grip design then the 1860 army. Both are a lot of fun to shoot though neither are very accurate. The 1858 Remington is by far the better, stronger and more accurate C&B vintage revolver design and it has an octagon barrel.

The "inaccuracies" stem moreso from poorly fitiing projectiles, bad wedge pin fit etc.
Feed a Colt Cap & Ball Revolver what it likes and keep them in good repair & they can and are Surprizingly accurate
Believe it or not my Bud has a Colt Walker replica (uberti) that from the same rest will put 3 out of 5 shots into one hole...the other two are not too far away niether
That is debateable.....sure the top strap frame may be "stronger" but the 58 is also more prone to stiffening etc. from fouling.....the Colt designs often function longer between cleanings and is every bit as accurate as any 58 Remmie I've owned and shot
