We must mean different things when we say "magnify". I'm not saying that a X times magnifier will make the dot X x 1MOA larger. Of course it stays at 1MOA. Everything being viewed through a magnifier would be X times bigger, so there is no relative difference. What I meant was that a magnifier will not magnify the entire world through the optic X times, EXCEPT for the dot. Such exclusionary treatment would be a miracle in optical physics.
KevinB, whats the deal with the tripower? How does it compair to the ACOG?
The triangle is like 14MOA or some ridiculously big size. It is basicly good for nothing other than 100m.
On the other hand, why do I want a huge triangle in a non-magnified tube - may as well go for a 2MOA aimpoint. I think the whole point of haivng a triangle is to get precision - but what precision do I need out of a non-magnifying tube??
And why do need Tri power while the Mono power aimpoint lasts for some god forsaken 8 years???
Perhaps there is a reason no one buys Tripower.....
IT WOULD STILL BE 1 MOA BUT THE DOT WOULD BE 3 TIMES AS BEG IF THE DOT STAYED THE SAME SIZE IT WOULD BE A 1/3 MOAYou might want to look through an Eotech magnifier at an Eotech site. The dot does not magnify - it remains 1MOA.
It's the magic of optics and / or holography.
