I am not an IPSC shooter. I took the black badge about six years ago, but then never shot a match. I forget most of what I learned about IPSC rules, etc.

Should I take the black badge again if I want to get involved in IPSC?

What, if any, divisions allow an HK P7M8?

Thanks!

I think that in order for your "black badge" to be valid you would have had to shoot a match (level 1) after completing the course. You may only need a refresher and some pratice on the drills, rules etc. The P7 may qualify in the production divison. I'm been out of the game for awhile.

Each section has thier own rules and time limits on past members coming back; contact Walter Hornby, the AB Section Coordinator (active on this board too) He can tell you what you need to do.

The P7M8 is not Production legal so I assume it will go in Standard.

Also, I think Walter has a black badge course planned for Reading Week in Feb but I am not sure if it is full already (?)

If you want to come up to Calgary, I have a course scheduled for 24-26 Feb 06. I have one spot left of the course. And to confirm Gorky's post, the P7M8 is no longer on the approved list for Production.....

sucessfully shooting at least a level 1 match without getting DQ'd and posting a score is the final exam for the course...you would have to retake thew course as you didn't complete the requirements of the course at the time

When he took his BB course this was not a requirement. This requirement was only brought into IPSC Alberta 2.5 years ago.

He could try and find an instructor who would be willing to work with him to bring him up to speed (as he has a BB.) However the odds are that unless he has been shooting regularly he would end up having to spend a couple of days anyway. It could end up costing him more then taking a BB course.
