Hey guys/gals.

I have a T3 Lite Stainless in .243win, and I would like it in .308win
I already know the case is the same damn thing, so to convert the rifle, all I need is a smith to swap the bbl and verify head space? Or is more involved in a caliber change?

Cheers,
Ty

You will need a .308 barrel and a 'smith'... No action work required. A .308 barrel from another Tikka will fit, may require head spacing and the printing will not automatically line up...

Depends if you get lucky when the barrel gets screwed on if headspace is good or short and can just be touched up.
If headspace is too long the barrel would have to be set back.
Maybe $150-$200 best case??

If you came to me with a pull off factory barrel and your barreled action with no scope on it, it could be as little as $20, possibly $40. If you want the printing to be indexed it could be $100 - $150.. if you want a new custom stainless blank install you could easily end up spending $700+.

And, if once you're in there, you want the smith to do any truing, slicking or "blueprinting" you should feel confident that it will take a crisp new $1000 bill to accomplish.

All very informative fellas. Thanks plenty

I'll keep an eye out for a takeoff barrel first and foremost, and go from there.

Considering I got this .243 for less than 800 w/optics I doubt I'll spend the money for a new bbl and all the extras, especially in that same price range. Haha

Further ahead to shop for a really good deal on a 308 . . . like you answered you own question.

Make contact with guntech and have him keep his eye out for one.
