Newbie Question: How long can I wait to wash?

Sorry for a newbie question (I'm not a BP shooter).

I was told by someone, that a B.P. gun needs to be washed immediatly, and that they cannot wait for 30-60 mins after to wash thier gun.

Is this true? How long can someone wait before the possibility of damage ??

You don't have to panic and clean the bore after every shot. I will go to the range, shoot however many rounds and then come home and clean the bore . BP fouling is corrosive and it traps moisture but its not that bad.

When out hunting I clean at the end of the day, and have had no problems. My rifle gets put to bed before I do though.

Swab between shots, and clean it completely at the end of the day.

hen I shot competitivly I din't wash mine out till I got home or the day was done and I was able to rezero the next day.
otherwise, I would swab and shoot all weekend.
