ALRIGHTY!!
Well, that happened a lot faster than I thought lol
So I got the gun, and when I got it, I also ordered from another supplier the Keymod XL handguard from MI, sheesh, just changed it completely.
Then after spending hours upon hours reading about optics, I finally went to check some out. Unfortunately the only store that really has a selection in MB is Wolverine, but I wasn't going to drive to Virden just to look. so I went to the Cabelas nearby and checked out some red dots, etc.
They had the Vortex Eagle Strike 1-6X and a bunch of other red dots. Selection wasn't huge but it's mainly for hunters...OH waiiiiiiiiit, whats that over in the corner....A trijicon Acog? OOOooooo
So, I won't lie, once that trijicon ACOG went up to my eye, it was literally love at first sight. I tried out the Eagle strike 1-6X and well the glass while good was no where near the quality of the ACOG, it almost appeared as if the 3.5X on the ACOG was better than the 6X on the eagle strike due to the better clarity which was excellent all the way to the outside of the lense on the ACOG.
Then of course, there was the issue of price, well, the ACOG's are going for 1800-1900 and well, if I was going to spend that much, I was going to consider paying more and getting the Elcan SpectreDR....
Well, after talking to the guy I recalled seeing the Trijicon on their website, but without the price listed....Online stock sold out, and limited availability Canada wide....The price on the scope in the glass case was 1795.00
After looking it up he said they had dropped the price down to 1439.00.
The manager passed by and said, yea, the trijicons are too expensive for the market Cabelas generally go for as they don't really market towards tactical and mainly hunters, and the trijicons hardly moved over time. So they're attempting to blow them out and won't be carrying Trijicon again.
So I had them check stock....Turns out the one I was holding was the last one listed in their stock across Canada. (a few stores may have had one in a glass case, but I wasn't going to drive across Canada to find out lol)
So after debating it, and realizing I was getting a scope that is normally priced between 1,800-1,900 for only 1439.00 brand new, I had to jump at it.
I now had increased my difference in cost to an Elcan by an additional 4-500 dollars. To not get it would be crazy. I didn't get the choice of reticle, so I have the Green Chevron.
I can't put this thing down now haha, I've been moving around and doing BAC with both eyes open, it's just awesome. If I feel the need for up close, I'll put a red dot on an offset mount.
Here are some pics, don't mind the pretty mattress haha
