Hi:

I live in lower mainland. I'm thinking to have a semi with say 25 rounds Mags.
Scope doesn't matter. My budget is limited. What set up is my best bet?

Thanks in advance
Chip

If you want something "tactical", get the Mossberg Tactical .22 with the 25 round mag. If you just want something inexpensive, get a Ruger 10/22 with a couple 25 round mags.

Not a 10/22 fan here...

For a cheap, fun semi, I adore my 64's. Limited to 10rd mags though (I've had a factory mag sharing a cage with a big butler creek...so far, no hybrids!)

If you want to spray and, play...I have a Remington 597. It's made me re-vamp my "No Remington" policy...Awesome semi .22. Accurate, affordable and, functions well. They had a rough start with functionality but, it's been worked out with generation 3 magazines. Mine actually functions better with the hi-cap mags than the 10rd ones. I'm no fan of the big mags though...makes the rifle "clunky".

I think the lowest costing .22 semi with a high mag capacity would be a basic Remington 597 with a 30 round magazine (purchase separately for 25-40 depending where you buy it). The gun itself could range from 169.99 - 200.

Before the government takes their cut you could be into a few 30 round magazines, the firearm, and a few bricks of ammo for around 300.

Remington 597

The Remington 597 tends to be quite accurate, and is a bit more man-sized rifle.

Earlier ones had trouble with the plastic magazines, but the later ones come with metal magazines. Large capacity mags are availabel, but buy the Remington ones for better functioning. If you disassemble it, do not overtighten the guide rod screws ----finger tight only, as too tight screws bend the guide rods slightly and the bolt drags causing feeding and/or ejection problems.

i would of rather seen you go with a 10/22 but 597 is good as well you can get alot more for the 10/22. dont tell my ruger freinds but i am planing to try the vtr out next spring. hope its a good gun and you have loads of fun.
