Newbie Question on 9mm Ammo for Beretta

Best thing is to try them all. Each gun is different and has it's own personality so to speak, so you need to get to know what your 92 likes, hates or loves. Have fun.
 
I've put 115 and 124gr from all manufacturers ( Fiocchi, Aguila, Winchester, Federal, AE, Remington) through many different 9mm handguns including 92s. They all shoot about the same at handgun distances. And I've never had reliability issues with any either through any 9mm handgun. Never tried 147 though.
Beretta 92s are not finicky guns. They will eat whatever you feed them and like it!
 
Most full size center-fire guns will work with any decent quality ammo. You see more ammo-pickiness with compact guns.
 
115's or 124's will work just fine. My own 92fs seems to hit right on with 124's.

Bullet weight can create a slight variation in vertical hits. 115's are fast so they tend to print on the target a hair low. That's because the leave the gun sooner in the recoil cycle. So I find that at around 15 yards that the group is an inch or a little less low compared to 124's that seem to center the group right on the Point Of Aim (POA)

As a newbie you might take a while to learn to shoot well enough that you can see a difference. But once you're shooting tight groups, like 2 inches or less at 10 yards, then you should buy a couple of boxes of each bullet weight and try them both. In the meantime if you come across a deal on pricing on either jump on it.
 
Great choice for your first pistole, top of the line gear, love my Beretta inox…. next I recommend a 1911 .45 ACP, even a cheep $350 Norinco if you have to.

115, 124, 147 will run through the inox just fine.

I feed mine 115, and 124. HP rounds same 115, or 124 are fine. As posted by another member it is rated for +P rounds, and once you get comfy with it you can switch up between 115, 124, 147.

Also if your looking for extra mags since you only have 2 that came with it, take a look at Mec-Gar 92fs mags, they are well priced.
 
A few of us have found the 115 and 124 grain to hit accurately at POA with a minimum of sight adjustment, but the 147 hits low and has a tiny bit more recoil...not an issue if you have elevation-adjustable sights but why go there? If you have fixed sights your best bet is the 124 grain, as has already been mentioned it seems to hit at POA while the 115 grain is a tiny bit off. Most manufacturers must test fire their guns with the middle-of-the-road 124 grain, I'm thinking?
 
standard test ammo is 124, that's the most common bullet weight now a days. inside 10-15 yards it won't make much difference, at 25 you will notice a difference in point of impact between 147 and 124-115.

Slide speed is slightly lower with 147 ammo, so it's slightly less reliable if you have a dirty/dry firearm, and more susceptible to limp wristing. Any of it should work fine for range use.
 
Nato spec and/or higher pressure ammo gives the best function out of the Beretta 92 series, especially if it is a new pistol.

I have had issues with reloaded ammo with lower power factor. Factory new 124gr usually works perfectly.
