I'm thinking of going out to the gun club ( BDHACC) in the next few weeks and doing some clays shooting. I have only done it a couple times and it was years ago but not at this club I belong to now. How many rounds do I need to bring/carry to do a round of sporting clays? I picked up a couple boxes of 1 oz #8 for my 16 gauge Citori Feather Lightning. It's a bit more expensive to shoot but is the gun I shoot most in the fall so figure I will use that for playing around also. I also have the same gun in 20g which I will also use just to warm up for hunting season. Sorry for the newbie question but I don't want to show up without enough shells to complete a round.

I dont know about anywhere else as our club is just small time but when we're just playing around the rounds or games are usually 1 box per (25 shells). And I usually put atleast 100-150 shells downrange. Other guys on here that are around bigger clubs will beable to help you better.

Edit: I usually bring atleast 150 to 200 shells just because I like blasting and the wife comes with me but id say 100 would probably be sufficient, up to you how much you want to shoot. I hate when you really get in the mood and you run out, and there's probably not that great of a chance that someone will have spare 16ga shells that you can buy off them if you run short.

Sporting Clays is shot in "stages" with each stage throwing doubles and typically five rounds (so 10 shots per stage). If there are 10 stages, then 100 rounds would be a guess but you always want a few more just in case. So find out how many stages and go from there.

I almost always bring an extra box of shells with me when I go to the club, just because. Example, if I'm planning on shooting 3 rounds of Skeet today, I grab 4 boxes from the cabinet.

The standard round of sporting clays is 100 targets. It's a good to bring extra shells if you need to reshoot a presentation due to broken targets or a gun malfunction. Typically I would bring five boxes for a round of 100.

Hummason's in Ancaster sells them by the case. About the best price I've found besides Al Flaherty's.

Sorry, thought your location was Brantford. A little far to go. :(

At our club a round of sporting is 50... for that we shoot an alternating 4 and 6 shells at each of 10 stations (or any other combination that fits doubles and "on report" birds). But most people shoot 100. Whatever you choose to do, take a few extra shells.
Cheers,
Roger
