Hey. I know this probably dumb question and thanks for your help in advance.

I just bought some spare mags for tt-33 online. One mag is compelety loaded with grease. Is this normal? Good idea to get rid of all the grease? Any good easy ways? Why would it be like this? I undertsand lubing parts etc but this is just smeared with grease.

Yep, wipe off as much as you can, then the brake cleaner or a spray on gun degreaser/cleaner. Lightly oil afterwards.
All the spare TT33 mags I have came in the same condition. Keeps em shiny while sitting in dark corners of Russian arsenals.

Added value! You can reuse that grease!

Scrape it out first, then either use either a dry rag or solvent on a brush. Blasting with brake cleaner is the easiest and most toxic way to do it.

You can strip down the mag and soak it for a few mins in boiling water - the cosmoline will melt right off. Dry the parts and apply a light film of oil to them.

I ONLY use mineral spirits now ($4.99/ltr @ Homedepot/Homehardware). It eats tough grease. When I purchased 2 extra tok mags they were covered in so much grease/cosmoline. I boiled one of them and soaked the other in mineral spirits, mineral spirits all the way. Please Note: DO NOT boil and soak in mineral spirits. The mag I boiled and soaked ended with spots, just my experience. Soak in spirits and use an old toothbrush, wipe dry, a light coat of oil on spring and you're done. Do not disposed used mineral spirits, save it and keep using till it's very dark.
