So I purchased a longer barrel for my Canuck brand shotgun a few months ago.
I just got around to cleaning out the closet and was chucking the box it came in when I found these two pieces wrapped up in some plastic in the box. The rod is made of plastic and the ring thing metal, but I can't figure out what their use is.
What are they?

I guess it could be a plug but it's about 8" long. If I put that in I'd be lucky to get one shell into the tube.
And why would it come with the barrel and not the gun? And what's the weird ring for?

They call that a "mag plug kit", comes with the longer/sporting barrels. I don't know allot about these guns, but I think the assumption is that if you buy one of these barrels, you have hunting aspirations. That means the mag can hold no more than 2 shells. (2 in mag/1 in chamber=total max of 3 allowed in the gun to adhere to hunting regs) The guns appear to loosely be patterned after 870s and if so, the long bit is a plastic "plug" that limits how many shells you can put in the mag. (cut to allow no more than 2) The other is likely a magazine plug, but I can't imagine there isn't one of those in the gun already. When you unscrew the mag cap to take the barrel off, does the mag spring fly out...or..is there a small plug that looks like that holding it in place?

So when you unscrew the mag cap the spring doesn't fly out there is some kind of a plastic cap preventing that from happening. However that little ring seems to fit into the mag perfectly. If I unscrew the mag cap and slide the rod in it only holds two shells so I guess the mystery is solved.
Thanks everyone!
