Hi,
Been shooting precision rimfire for some years but I am more of a beginner in centerfire rifles. I have recently acquired a Rem 700P and it is now at ATRS for a barrell cut to 22 inches and a trigger and bedding job. My question is what kind of bullet weight will be appropriate to use. 155 grains? , 168grain? or maybe something else? I would like to know what is the lightest and the heaviest bullet appropriate in that rifle?I believe it has a 1 on 12 twist rate.

Thanks for educating me.

Assuming .308. Lightest "good" round I'd shoot is 155's. Heaviest likely 175's. Could go a bit heavier but not much ballistic gain. Especailly with a shorter barrel.

155 Lapua Scenars, 175 SMK/Tipped, 178 AMX/Match, Berger VLD's, etc. The choice is yours. All depends on distance, etc.

you can also add the lapua scenar 167gr easy to find a good load with and you are good for 600m after that you may need a longer barrel or a faster twist

but with 1:12 175gr bullets will be the max I load
