Bought a new Marlin 1895G.
It had a scope on it, with the rear sights off.
The scope is now off.i would like the rear sights back on.
Whats the safest way to do this with out damaging my new baby? (me being a newbie and all)
If you have the original rear sight, it can be gently tapped in place with a brass punch (so as not to damage the sight base), going from left to right. Centring it will be another matter, unless whoever removed it was kind enough to put a "witness mark" on the dovetail and the sight- ie a small scratch or dent showing where they originally lined up.
But since you have the sight off anyway, why not take the opportunity to replace the rear sight with an aperture (peep) sight? Few people seem to like the original sights anyway, unless they are doing cowboy shooting. Williams make the relatively inexpensive "5D" series, one model of which fits the rear scope mounting holes on the receiver. (You will have to remove the sight bases, of course.) If you want click-adjustable, the "FP" series will give you that. The other alternatve is the excellent XS sights, which have a large "ghost ring" aperture. Their front sights are also excellent.
