I have a bushmaster with the fixed stock
I want to change it to a collapsible stock
What all do I need to buy for parts and what do I have to do to install it

What you'll need:

1 buffer tube kit including end plate and castle nut. Mil spec or commercial size won't matter as the threads will be the same
1 collapsible stock to match the buffer tube size above (mil spec of commercial)
1 castle nut wrench
1 carbine length buffer spring
1 buffer

To uninstall fixed stock:
Remove upper from lower receiver.
Remove rifle buffer and buffer spring from buffer tube.
Unscrew butt screw at base of fixed stock.
Slide stock off being careful not to damage the takedown pin spring that is held captive by the stock.
Unscrew rifle length buffer tube carefully so you do not lose the buffer retainer and spring held captive by the buffer tube.

To install:
Install castle nut onto the buffer tube with the side with four notches towards the butt end.
Slip the end plate (raised button pointing away from the butt end) onto the threaded end against the castle nut.
Screw in carbine length buffer tube assembly into the lower receiver.
When you are close to the buffer retainer, screw the buffer so that the extended lip of the tube just sits on top the flat portion of the buffer retainer.
Replace the takedown pin detent and spring.
Slide end plate down over the spring and flat against the lower receiver.
Screw down the castle nut against the end plate and tighten using the castle nut tool.
You can stake the endplate to the notch on the castle nut or do like me and just use blue locktite.
Install collapsible stock as per instructions.
Install carbine length buffer spring and buffer.
Replace upper receiver.
