Newbie to chokes...

turkeys are not some mythical being I just use a 1 1/8 or 1 1/4 field load with either 4's or 6's that patterns well anything else is just more recoil and shot that can put stray pellets where you don't want them. if they could be taken with a smooth bore muzzleloader with soft lead shot and little to no wadding 200 years ago they can be taken now with a modern load with a plastic shot cup just pattern your gun and don't worry about expensive gimmicky loads.

federal flight control loads pattern best with a cylinder or improved cylinder choke due to they way the wad is constructed

I finally settled on a Carlsons turkey choke (Winchester), constriction .640 We'll see how it patterns.

Be interested in 40 yard patterns with various shot sizes in that tight of a choke. My wilson precision choke is only .650 and #4 really open up the pattern. #6 is almost to tight for close range

I'm familiar with choke tubes that strip the wad to help spread the shot but they don't constrict, they just grab the wad to slow it down. Maybe that's what Gunswhere meant but it came across as choking (constriction) to me when he said "other means of choke that don't constrict." I could have taken it wrong though.

I read that constriction and thought it had to be a typo, .050" tighter than super full, let us know what the pattern board shows.
 
I have a tight .575 Carlsons 20 gauge turkey choke for my Weatherby PA-08. It patterns ‘turkey’ shells terribly but 1 oz field loads very well. I have just used the .590 full choke with my turkey shells with great results. But turkey hunters love gear so I bought a Carlsons .585 extra full sporting choke to try with the turkey shells this year. All for a few more yards. My wife is very understanding.
