Newbie to norc m14

Hey I noticed that when I can't my m14 back while reloading and a piece that u believe locks the mag in slid reward so that I could not load. With a push of a finger I could slid it forward and then load. Is this common? Is this a broken part?

You talking the op rod spring guide?

Not following. Can you provide a pic of the offending part?

Sorry it sounds confusing. When I "tip" the rifle up during a reload this piece in the stock slides back, blocking a new mag from being inserted unless I push I back with my finger. It's on te barrel side of the mag well and it's like a rod. Doesn't happen all the time.

It's called the op-rod guide & it sounds like the cross pin is not in the locked position. Dis-assemble the rifle and make sure to close the latch shown here:
