Today I finished my CFSC and will be doing the Restricted in 2 weeks.
I know I wont have my PAL for several months still but I can't help getting excited.
Being that I am new to the world of firearms, I have a few questions I'm hoping more experienced people can answer.
First of all, I'm 6'2, 180lbs, and I'm a lefty. For my first purchase I would like to buy a bolt action rifle. My price range is in the area of 500-700 with some wiggle room if you convince me that it is worth it
The two rifles I've looked at thus far are: 1) Savage 11 Trophy Hunter xp (lefty), blued / syn stock with 3-9x40 scope .308 win. ($539)
2) Remington 700 SPS varmin (lefty) .308 win ($694)
Does anyone have opinions on these rifles, or other rifles in the price range that may be better for a new shooter? (keep in mind, lefty is a necessity)
Also, I'm looking ahead to rifle ranges in my area and noticing that many are not accepting new rifle members. (I'm in the Kitchener/Waterloo area)
Two clubs that seem like they may be good are the Burlington Rifle & Revolver Club OR Colby Gun Club
Are there any members of these clubs on here that could let me know how they are in terms of cost of membership, and how busy they are?
