Moved to Alberta about three years ago and am a contractor.... all my contractor buddies chase coyotes this time of year so I bought a Ruger Hawkeye in 22-250 for coyotes it has 1-14 twist any help you can give me with bullet weights would be a great help.... have a couple of friends that shoot the 22-250 in a 700 Rem and use 52 grain hollow points.... is that a good place to start or should I go lighter or heavier? I don't get twist rate and bullet weight/ stabalizing/ tumbling..... just got the scope on it and have time and an itchy finger.....
 
Hello and welcome. My experience with coyotes was years ago in Idaho. I used an SKS. Altogether different from what you're doing. You might want to invest in one of the reloading manuals that has information on bullet weights and lengths, rates of twist, etc. It's not that it's complicated so much as there are just a number of factors you have to weigh. However, it's worth keeping in mind that all of those things are secondary to bullet placement. Train to hit what you aim at, at various distances, and pretty much any standard round will do the job.
 
I didn't realize that they took into account all those factors in the reloading books.... thanks for the help..... off to pick one up I guess...
