Newby question for IPSC travel

I'm heading to the Ontario IPSC provincials and staying at a hotel. Do I leave my gun in my car or bring it to my room?

This is the first time I travel out of province and only my 3rd competition

take all your gear up to the room , belt bag etc, some of the guys paid the price at halifax nats, wasnt nice.

Someone broke in a bunch of cars at the match hotel one night during the 2009 IPSC Nationals held in Halifax.
Some people had left their gun bags and holsters and mags in their cars (no guns) overnight and lost them.

RE: the original Q; Me, I lock my gun in the room safe and if there isn't one, lock it's case in my luggage; never leaving indicators to the cleaning staff what my purpose of stay is.

I was one of the people who's car was broken into. I had left my gear bag locked in the trunk of the car out of sight. they broke the side window, popped the trunk and probably thought they hit the mother-lode when they saw the suit case. Fortunately all of the guns were inside the hotel. $6,000 (two shooters me and Cathy) later I think I got everything replaced.
