Does anyone have any experience with the newcom laser rangefinders? I've read some reviews on U.S forums but nothing in the last few years. Anybody have one? How well does it actually do distance wise?
I'm looking for something capable of at least 2500 yards, open to other suggestions as long as it's reasonably priced.

Not many real reviews has always been the problem with Newcon. Comments I have seen on them south of the border generally haven't been the best, at least with the lower models.

When you say "at least 2500 yards".. is that on a big reflective target or rocks on a hill or soft target? Things start getting pretty expensive the further you want to range.. unless your idea of 'reasonably priced' is different than most :)

For example, the Newcon 3500LRM (which I assume you'd need to range that far) is just under $5000 u.s... in which case I'd probably look at a used Terrapin.

Thanks for the reply, to clarify I would like the ability to range rocks and other what have you out to 2500 or so. I know it's not going to be cheap. I already have the Leica geovid binos but I would like to stretch further than they are capable of. I've also been looking at coincidence rangefinders like the Barr and Stroud, an opinions on them?

I had a set of Newcon LRB3000 Pro, it would range rocks around head to Chest sized at 2500 yards no problem as long as you could hold still enough. I usually used a cheap tripod that came with an old spotter. Worked like a charm. I could pick up buildings out to 3300 yards often. The downside was it's weight, so I switched to a G7 because I wanted to used it for hunting more often then target shooting. And realistically, 2500 yards was plenty for me.

I bought a new 1500 model about 8 years ago.
Range on a cardboard/paper target is less than 500m.
It wasn't abused but someday the laser got offset higher than reticle.
Glass is cheap and poor light transmission make it useless in low light.
I still use it for target shooting but it's disappointing.
