I purchased the rifle from The Gun Dealer in McAdam, NB on my recent trip to Nova Scotia. These guys were very helpful and recieved a great deal including the bipod. If your ever in the area it is well worth the trip to McAdam.

Ive been reading all kinds of articles on scopes and it came down to the Vortex PST 6-24-50 or the Sightron 6-24-50. Not that i wanted to, but I have used the Vortex warranty and it is just what they claim....no hassle, send out another scope immediately. Ive never viewed through a Sightron but the reports are positive to give them a good look.

A lot of searching just happen to lead me to the fantastic store of Prophet River in Lloydminster Ab. I live relatively close and have purchased previously from Clay, Harley and other staff members who are knowledable and will take the time to chat. One thing i like about PRF is that they are not pushy salesmen. They will answer your questions and concerns and let the product sell itself. PRF carries a lot of great rifle scopes including the Sightron brand which he had a great selection. I ended up purchasing the Sightron S111 8-32-56 LRMOA-2. As most will say, this scope has amazing clarity.

To complete the purchase, I got some Lapua Brass, Berger 155 VLD and SMK 155 gr bullets. It has been published enough so i will load them up with Varget powder and CCI primers.

Although my local range is maxed out at 300 yards im sure I have enough gun, i just might have to try and make a venture to BC or Southern Alberta for some education on long range shooting.

Im looking forward to the joys of precision shooting.

Nah... Lots of loooong distance stuff around here... I have a 700+ meter range less then 15min from my house (with a quick stop at Timmy's)...

Nice setup!

We gotta get some northern Albertans together this summer for a LR shoot!

I have had the chance to look through several Sightrons and have not been impressed.

They lack in contrast and resolution and the ones that I have looked through have a grey or hazy look to them.

These observations are, of course, in comparison to my NF BR 12-42x56 scopes which are half again as much as the Sightrons.

Observations were made with a direct side by side comparison with the owners scope and my own.

YMMV.

I have a sightron 8-32 SIII. I find it harder to focus then other scopes. Maybe you couldn't get them focused? I know my first looking threw it I wasn't impressed until I got it focused.:D

Also you can't go wrong with the Viper PST. My girlfriend has one on her Savage M12 benchrest and it has been awesome to her. Its clear and easy to focus.

Thats a beauty rifle you have there. Have fun with it.

I have the same sightron it is a decent scope for the money. Mechanicals are excellent. I can use mine to make out my 223 hits at 300 Meters. Depending on mirage. I will not argue with cyan1de that it is better than a nightforce or zeiss or whatever, with glass you get what you pay for. Pay more get more. But for 800 or so it is a pretty good scope.
