As promised, I tried to shoot the 2 Norinco's NP22 to pieces, so to speak
and report here. Well, I am not even half way there. Will keep on trying though!
I fired now 9500 rounds through both, 4000 for one, and have no wear marks anywhere yet.
Today One broke the flat spring that holds the slide open, which I replaced with the factory supplied spare. Bullets: 125 gr full jacketed and 80%
hard cast 125 gr. RN bullets at 1150 fps.
On my original SIG SAUER 226, whose right frame rail broke finally off, and
where I machined a steel insert as rail support, is doing very well with no
malfunctions of any kind and still the SAME ACCURACY as with a full rail. (2000 rounds after "surgery")
As the original slide died much earlier, I put a Norinco NP 22 slide on it last year and they just compliment each other.
Am I the only lucky one ?

no, you aren't lucky, Norinco's are good guns.

Thank you !

I said that with "tongue in cheek" to provoke those that dislike Norinco's.

Metallurgy is one of my special interests, in my profession it had to be, and
I was always pleased with the material chosen, be that high grade steel or aerospace 7075 aluminum alloy.
Chinese workmanship was sometimes erratic in the past, but not in the last
10 years that I have seen.

My Norinco 288 needs some minor surgery as well. Anyone know where I can pick up a Sig screws-and-grips kit, maybe with some spare screws as well? (Do you need to use the Norinco replacement spring when the time comes, or is any Sig 228 spring G2G?)

If you phone SIGARMS in the States they will most likely send you those small parts for free.
When my spring on my 226 for the hold-open device broke, I phoned, and they sent me a new one free of charge , even with advise how to install it.
I knew before, but that was still a nice touch.
The Norinco's NP 22 come with 2 different spare springs already.
That is even nicer.
If there is a better service in Canada, I certainly would like to hear about it.

Nope....i love my norc np-22. I have not put as many rounds through mine as you have but i have found it to be 100% reliable through the 1500 rounds i have put down range with it. It feels great in my hand as well with the houge grips i put on.

I've got +7000 rounds through mine and only had my first troubles a few weeks ago. Like a few of the others here, the slide catch spring broke so I'm going to have to dig out my original box and look for the spare.

It's shot commercial, commercial reload and reload, all without a hitch. No FTFs, no FTEs. For a $350 gun, it's been a reliable workhorse and I'd buy another without hesitation. Grips suck though....swapped those out in a hurry.;)

I did not know there were Hogue grips available for it. I really like it !
Will order 3 of them now. Thank you for the picture ! Great !

The only thing missing now is a conversion kit for 22 LR.
Does anyone know if they exist for the SIG 226 - NP22. ?
My wife would really love that !

When i got mine I just went out on a limb and ordered a set of p226 hogue grips hoping they would fit (i hated those plastic grips). It seems any p226 grips will fit just fine. It really improves the feel and the look i think.

I did order 2x Hogue rubber grips with finger grooves via the Net.
Total cost $ US 59,85, shipping included.
No more slippery grips in heat or cold.

The P226 Blackhawk and Safari Holsters fit perfectly for the np-22 as well. Ive had mine for 3 years and have had no problems at all, except a grip screw i lost from not tightening it properly. I would recommend the np-22 to any new or vet. shooter looking for a great practice pistol.

so you guys like the np22 then... i did the search function and found a few opinions on the lackluster quality of the np22 as compared to the sig p226. globe seems to be the ardent defender of the np22 tho and for the price i might give the np22 a chance. tho im also looking at the glock 17. but im do a search on that first lol.

A newb using the search feature? Where's the "it brings a tear of joy to my eye" smiley???

As for finish and overall machining quality, the Sig will win hands down. However, the np22 is no slouch, and for the price, is a steal.
