This guy drew Male Only Caribou on the Cape Shore. As it's MO, I'm happy it's Area 77. Closest to the house!

Moved home in 05. This is my first big game draw. Pretty excited!:)

How did the rest of you NL CGNers do?

Struck out on the moose this year, but did get caribou ES, and like you, it's pretty close, just 15 minutes up the road where I killed caribou for the last 8 years. Yep, the first kill on your own license is something special. Enjoy!

Being in the military means I can hunt in Newfoundland while living in Nova Scotia. I just got a either ### Moose licence:dancingbanana: for area 31 which is the Placentia area, also close to St.John's.

Awesome! Congrats. My bro-in-law is hoping for 31 too. If he's got it we're going to do a combined moose-caribou camp. Placentia is just north CMA 77.

Norm99, thanks. Glad to get the draw, I think they lowered the number of caribou tags by 1000 or so this year?

NG, We'll have to talk again come the fall!

DT, I can never remember the area numbers, must be this middle age thing, but it's Aides Lake, which is the Deer Lake area. Yes, the quota was reduced in this area, but I'm thinking that last year, there were so may unsuccessful hunters here that they didn't apply this year. By the way, my wife hunts with me, so a party license makes it a little easier to get. I'll take the caribou second choice, every time!:D :D

Moose, Area 1 (St Anthony), Either ### for myself and gpracer.

Walter, we saw seven caribou a few weeks ago when we were in the Cape Shore area. Bad news is that this herd is now suffering from the brainworm that decimated the South Shore herd.

We got an ES for my home area of Bay de Verde Area 34. If that moose that has been raiding the flower beds in the backyard is still around come October, I'm not going to have to even break out the green rubber boots!:)

Brad, Congrats on another license! With the cost of gas these days, good on you to be willing to drive to the Northern Peninsula every Fall for an animal! I wish I had the coin to do that!:)

For all that now, I'm hoping that our group Black Bear & Caribou hunt will be a go for the Middle Ridge area. Haven't heard back from my buddy whether or not he got his license. We'll probably go just for the bears anyway and do some coyote hunting as well. Should make for a good trip no matter what.

Seen a nice moose feeding on a poleline today in the bay de verde area, there was also one across the road from the house last weekend. You should have no trouble getting a moose here.

Navy Shooter, My father had a license for Placentia last year, moose are really getting thinned out up there the last few years. It was Dec. 28th before we got ours last year. I do however know where to find a HUGE bull in that area. and I mean HUGE! I saw him on the first morning, I was on one ridge looking over one bog, Dad was on another looking the opposite way 100 feet away. When I saw the bull I turned around and dad was nowhere to be found, I called him on the radio and he came running out of the bushes rifle in hand pulling up his pants as he was running, lol. By the time he got there it was too late. We saw him twice more after that but no chance for a shot. They don't get that big by being stupid. The first moose dad killed was a 21 pointer, he said this one is way bigger.
