Newfoundland moose hunt!!

Agreed, however just buying a license doesn't provide you with an adult tag, same as in Ontario

Right, which is why I agreed when you said:

AFAIK, they have a draw for residents like we do in Ontario, and the non-res have to get their tags from an Outfitter...

This is correct. A resident moose license is $40+HST, while a non-resident license is $335+HST.

:D

Thanks for clearing that up because I was getting confused. Here, tag=license - they're attached to each other.

The problem with non resident hunting in Newfoundland is that you have to go through a outfitter and use their guide's. Outfitters in Newfoundland charge big dollars, often in US funds. To top it off you have to pay airfare, transport costs of meat and a non resident hunting license etc. Its out of reach for most people.

Not in NFLD but this guy (Andrew) quoted me 1000$ (min. 4 hunters) for one week. Includes food and accomodations. 1 bull Tag for the group.

Well let me help you then....

He may not want pay a ton to go out east and may not get a tag in Ontario, I though the guy had good prices....sorry for giving the guy some options.

Yes I was under that impression too...that you have to go through a licensed outfitter (ie, big bucks)....can't just use some bloke with a guide license.

This is the first time I've ever heard complaints about the prices Newfoundland Outfitters charge for their hunts.

All the other hunting boards I frequent seem to be almost universal in their agreement that a Newfoundland Hunt is just about the best value for the dollar on the go, especially if you're looking for a combo hunt of Moose/Caribou/Black Bear or a combination of any two.

I've seen "grand slam" hunts offered at around $5,000 for a 7 day hunt, with all meals, accommodations and 1:1 guide/hunter ratio.

I guess you could book with Jim Shockey and pay $12,000.00 for a Moose hunt in the Yukon, or just a little "cheaper" for a Black Bear hunt with Jim on Vancouver Island!:D
