I've finally decided to pick up a norc m14 shorty! i want to get this girl running smooth and was wondering what are some things i should look for and do? I've been doing plenty of reading but would like some opinions.

zeroing your iron sight

headspace,
make sure there are no cracked parts,
make sure the op rod guide is tight (read stickys on how to do it),
ensure the gas system is tight (read stickys),
grease up the bolt and oprod,
bring some locktite with you (iron sights might be lose and jumpy if you have locktight with you it won't ruin your range day),

shoot it.
