That you can, but the amount of paperwork to prove you need it for defense against predators and a rifle won't do the job is ridiculous.
Maybe if there was a new ipsc division where you get points based on calibres or just any kind of competition with large calibre, these would make more sense. IPSC "Big Mofo" division would be a blast...

yea, they have that in 3 gun now, its called "heavy metal" its all M305s and .45acp.
