Go for the Trojan. Right in your price range, and an awesome trigger.
I'd consider a Dan Wesson too - no idea though who may have it for $1200, like others have said.

The norinco 1911 is good value for the price. But with a budget of $1200 there are much nicer and higher quality 1911's out there.
Fully agree with your comment given the price range, but the thread I refer to makes some amazing reading. I wouldn't have touched a Norinco before I read it. Now for a "knock about" firearm, I'd give them very serious consideration.
Well I went with the Sig Sauer 1911 Carry in SS. Absolutely phenomenal gun super tight, feels great in the hand, cant wait to take her to the range. (I already have my VZ grips on order )
And I agree with the norincos, great gun for the buck but its a personal taste thing for me, I hate the look of them.

No I picked it up at a local shop through a friends connection for a ridiculous price and I just couldn't resist. I like everything about it especially the shorter barrel. I was definitely surprised that I went for a Sig though. When I thought of Sig I thought about our local police force, flashlights, laser sights, tacticoolness ahhh the horrors! I am definitely impressed with the fit and finish of their 1911's.
