Very good point, there is a big weight difference. I guess I'll be picking up a Norinco NP-58 IF I can find a gen 1. I doubt I'll ever be able to find one. I have a couple issues with the gen 2's.

What is the difference between gen1 and gen2?

What are your issues with gen2?

I have a SIG collection that includes .22, .357 Sig, 7.65, 9mm, .40 and .45 calibres. They all have a different feel to them. The .357 Sig has a real sharp kick, the .40 has a nice "thump" to it, but the 45 is the king of felt recoil. In my opinion of course.

On a serious not, I just started my Sig collection with a new P226 in 9mm. Now I'm waiting for my ATT so I can burn through a few boxes of ammo.

I bought a .45 first because they are cool, then got a 9mm with the thought of using it for ipsc because it would be easier to handle. I love my 1911 .45 so much it's all I shoot. I do pretty well with it (got 5th in my class for my BB qualifier), even though it kicks a lot more. I've shot .40's they are fun too. That's my next purchase, I think it would be a nice blend between the 2. I'd like to get a Tanfoglio Limmited Custom 2. Very cool.

The only real answer is GET ONE OF EACH!!

on your BB. I'm a late bloomer and so have a lifetime of excellent experiences that I won't forget. That BB was a real highlight for me. I can't remember too many times that I felt that sort of pride in an accomplishment. I love the fellowship I enjoy in IPSC. I think we all want to achieve but rarely see people want to do so at another's expense.

I have a .45 coming to join up with my two SIG.40's and S&W .357. They are all fun but I think the .40 has a few advantages and still has that satisfying thump when you press that trigger. The hole in the paper is slightly smaller than the .45 but so is the impact on your wallet particularly if you don't reload.

I've read about issues with one or two springs inside the gen 2's breaking. I don't personally know how much truth there is to it.
My biggest issue is the easiest way to tell the difference between gen 1 and gen 2. Gen 2's have the rail on the frame for mounting accessories. That's not an issue, but gen 2's also have serations near the front of the slide just above said frame rain to "aid in dissassembly". I really can't stand the look of those serations up there...so out of place.. I just think the gen1's look so much cleaner.

I have Para Ordnance in .40 . Very good gun ( one of the best on the market actually ), less recoil and cheaper ammo then .45

Mine is a Gen 2 then. Guess I didn't know there were two versions. But I agree with you, the Gen 1 is purer and sleeker. I was never into "tactical" anyway.

I do remember reading that Norinco did some improvements to the frame internals, around the feed ramp/slide lock areas where they put a steel insert/reinforcement. Could be both Gen1 and 2 have it. I am not really familiar with the workings of these pistols.
