So I realize that was pressure is from days of yore. But I have found that if I put about 30 psi on my wad (AA HULL, CB 4100, 30 gr HS6, LEE 1 oz) that it makes crimping and having the crimp stay that much easier.

Edua-ma-kate me about this wad pressure thingy.

I stick with 40 most of the time for all gauges. Usually reload AAs or Gold Medal, the odd batch of STS. Found any lower would occasionally give me issues with Gold Medals.

I like just a little pressure. I would guess I'm below 30, probably 20 since I just get a bit of movement on my 9000.

I am not sure HS6 is the best powder for lighter loads- stick with the published loads and don't change primers. The fed 209A is a hotter primer.

Stay safe!

Too late :) I'm developing my own load. Lee has a max of 36 grn of HS6 for the AA hull

Some loads don't crimp well due to what you are seeing, too full. Too much pressure and you will crush the wad. You will notice that they may even open up over time as the wad pushes back. Try the next bigger shot cup wad (same type or brand), sometimes both are even listed in the manuals.

What happened to roll crimping those suckers?
