Next rifle caliber thoughts !

If yah wanna go smaller. 223 rem would be good.
If you want to go bigger. I have been on a “big and slow” kick for a while.
450 bushmaster, 45-70, 444marlin, 44mag,

Okay trying to think ahead , if I was to purchase one more rifle what caliber / cartridge would you add .
It would mainly be used for hunting . I’m covered for what I basically hunt moose and deer but might want something else .

I have a 30.06 and a 6.5 Creedmoor .22 LR . It would be something that’s not wood stocked and stainless or cerakoted metal
Thank You !

You have something burning powder in the 50's grains, something burning powder in the 40's grains and now you need something burning powder in the 30's range. My vote would be an AR length cartridge, the 2 best choices for combo big game/predator/steel would be 6.5 Grendel and 6mm-ARC, if not combo for big game and just predator/steel then .223 would be a good one. I don't see the point, may as well jump up to the Grendel twins (6mm-ARC is basically just a 6 Grendel) and have the versatility to take big game. I have a moose with my Grendel, was no big thing. We have 14 big game kills with Grendel and a wolf now, batting 1000, 10-420 yards, sheep/deer/black bears and the 1 moose. Will add elk and antelope eventually here to get that species count up. Look at the Ruger American Ranch in 6.5 Grendel, the 6mm-ARC is still pretty new so may take a minute before the factory rifles come along. And stuff the Ruger into a chassis and it makes a pretty cool 3 feet of do all. Unlimited barrel life and super fun to shoot for the sake of shooting. This is where you need to go.

list your bullet weights with velocities, then pick something in the void areas, several cartridges may fit each but thats a way of acquiring a bag of clubs

I seem to do everything with my 243 these days, but the 204 must be a little laser. Maybe one day. Next on my list, however, is a 9.3x62. ;)

:)That was a calibre that caught my interest a while back, probably due to the input of Why not? on the subject. In preparation, I acquired a selection of different brands & weights of bullets to test and load develop. For a rifle, I went the 'inexpensive' route and arranged for a M-70 Zastava from Trade Ex. Have a soft spot for the full wood Mannlicher stock style, but only on European calibre rifles, so settled on that. In addition, from Trade Ex I also ordered a 'quantity' of 285gr PRVI bullets. From a local fellow site member & friend I lucked into a set of dies, Lapua brass and some 285gr PRVI bullets. While the Zastava lacks some of the finish qualities of other brands, I was:d:d THRILLED with the accuracy results with my first loads, using the 285gr PRVI bullets, so much so, I have yet to try any of the others in my bullet selection. And, with the way the Zastava has performed, I opted for another of the same, in 7x57mm.

Thanks for all the replies fellas ! I’m thinking things through and one thing I don’t own any more is a lever action rifle I had a brand new Marlin 336C in 1989 but was forced to sell it , regretts ! So what if I bought a lever action in a caliber/ cartridge that I have a revolver in say .357magnum or 44 magnum ? Just thoughts

That sounds like an idea, get a little 16” trapper in .44 mag. If you get into reloading you can make cast bullet target loads for real cheap. And stout loads with suitable bullets for big game at close ranges.
With that reloading gear you will also be able to enjoy cheap target shooting with your .44 revolver.
